Why You’ll Benefit from this Tempo Workout
Feel the rhythm
Feel the rhyme
Get on up
It’s TEMPO TIME!
With this cool weather I thought it would be appropriate to (sort of quote) Cool Runnings! Instead of bobsledding we will be doing a tempo run this week. A tempo run is a sustained effort at 1/2 marathon-marathon pace (so not like bobsledding at all). If you don’t know your half marathon or marathon pace that is ok, come to the workout anyways.
Tempo runs are designed to increase your lactate threshold, build strength and become more comfortable at longer distances. We will also mix in some short, fast sprints at the conclusion to teach your body to run fast while tired!
The Workout
- Warrior 1- 20 min. Tempo Run + 4x 20 seconds FAST
- Warrior 2- 25 min. Tempo Run+ 4x 20 seconds FAST
- Warrior 3- 30 min. Tempo Run+ 4x 20 seconds FAST
We will warm up to the Stone Arch Bridge and utilize our fartlek course to complete the workout. As you may notice this is going a little bit away from the fast speed work we have become accustomed to but this workout is imperative to increasing strength and endurance!
Thank you for everyone that has been coming to the workouts! It has been awesome getting to know everyone and watching all of you become stronger and faster….and we’re only getting started! See you at 6:00 p.m. September 18 at Mill City Running!

P.S. I actually travelled into the future and found a youtube clip of the Wednesday Warriors starting this week’s workout!
